View the SHC 2014 Year In Review

Expansion. Adaptation. Innovation.

These words, in many ways, defined 2014 for Signature HealthCARE. The Revolution brought our total number of locations to 125. We welcomed new centers to the family and took pivotal steps to position SHC as an integrated care network capable of meeting health care needs across the full spectrum of care. We expanded into new business lines while continuing to enhance and invest in existing service offerings.

Signature HealthCARE Hall of Fame Inducts 350+ Individuals

The Hall Of Fame is an innovative Quality of Life Program developed by Signature HealthCARE designed to honor the lives and accomplishments of our patients, stakeholders, volunteers, and others who have had such an impact on our centers, communities, and nation.

On October 9, 2014, 87 Signature HealthCARE centers across the southeast and midwest will induct over 350 distinguished individuals into the Hall of Fame, in local ceremonies featuring celebrity speakers and presentations about the inductees lives and accomplishments.

This event, which we believe is the largest and only of its kind, is an opportunity for us to extend gratitude to those who have given so much to our centers, communities and country. They come from all walks of life – war veterans and feminist icons to inventors, professional athletes, philanthropists and much more. We are proud to count them among those we serve and can only continue to benefit from their presence. The Hall of Fame ceremonies are a special day to hold them up as shining examples of human potential.

Patient reignited passion for art, inspired others

Eugene ‘Geno’ Cruikshank was admitted to Signature HealthCARE of Cherokee Park in mid-March with the hopes of regaining his strength so he could return home to help care for his loving wife, Clara, who has Alzheimer’s.

Mr. Cruikshank was a gentleman who everyone got to know quickly. He had a quick wit and a great smile, and he always had a genuine story to tell. While working with our occupational therapy department, Geno let us know that he had not picked up a sketch pad in over two years due to his health. Mr. Cruikshank is a former art teacher and community supporter of the arts in all mediums.

SHC of Cherokee Park patient cheers Cards to victory in ‘Battle of the Bluegrass’

A patient from Signature HealthCARE of Cherokee Park was the lucky winner of tickets to last weekend’s ‘Battle of the Bluegrass’ in Lexington!

Signature held drawings for tickets to the game, for both patients and employees. Employees were able to purchase chances to win tickets to the game as part of a raffle for the Compassion Fund, a nonprofit organization operated by Signature that benefits employees and other community members in need.

SHC of Cherokee Park QOL Director Jaime Larimore said patient Barbara Wexler was so excited when she got word she had won the tickets that she hit the call light button to notify the staff.

“We had a wonderful day,” Larimore said. “It was both our first time going to a UK/U of L game. What a fantastic way to get up close and personal with tradition and rich Kentucky culture. Barbara Wexler and myself want to thank Signature HealthCARE for providing such an exciting opportunity.”

A ‘fair’ day for Signature centers

Five Signature HealthCARE centers recently visited the Kentucky State Fair. SHC of East Louisville, South Louisville, Cherokee Park, Trimble County and Spencer County all attended – about 50 patients and staff members in total. We had a great time, ate good food and saw the most amazing exhibits of quilts and cakes.

We all met up in the South wing at the Food Court for lunch and took the group pictures there. Our patients were very excited about eating the ‘bad’ food, like hot dogs, steak sandwiches and cotton candy. We spent a lot of time looking at the handmade items – especially the quilts. We saw a few cows and sheep, and tasted samples of the country ham and sorghum.
